In 2011 we organized the first International Forum on Domestic Violence for the English speaking community in Paris. Representatives from several local organizations participated both to make the audience aware of exactly what constitutes domestic violence, and what resources exist in the Paris area to help victims.
In May 2015 we presented another forum on the same subject, with the accent being on what the reality is for women who seek help. Several lawyers, a police person, the directress of a shelter and a Juge des Affaires Familiales were part of a panel discussing the various issues, Some of the participants from our Domestic Violence Women’s Support Group related their experiences and questions from the audience were raised and addressed. Paula Lucas, our keynote speaker in 2011, was also on hand to update us on the work of her two organizations: the American Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center (now named Pathways to Safety) and Sexual Assault Support and Help for Americans Abroad.
This event was free and took place on May 7, 2015 at the American Church of Paris,
Below is a poster which announced the event.
